Community One - Year 6
Our last year of primary school...Community One are our leaders of the school. Being the eldest of our school family means we lead by example in all we do.
What a busy and unusual year we have had. We started the year with swimming and were all set to go on our Year 6 camp, but then lockdown happened. After many weeks at home and online learning, we finally made it back to our classroom and to our friends.
Term 2 saw us getting back into the swing of school and engaged in our learning and preparing for winter sports training.
A highlight of the year was during Term 3 when learning about space. We had a lot of questions and loved learning all about our solar system. The visit to the Christchurch Museum was a highlight for the class.
We have learnt a lot this year, while in lockdown we learnt all about the continents of the world which then lead into our learning about Earth and the other planets and then in Term 4 we learnt all about tectonic plates and the Ring of Fire as part of our natural disasters learning.
Term 4 was full of events but non more exciting than the much anticipated Year 6 camp to Arthur's Pass. We had an awesome 3 days away, making memories that will last a lifetime.
