At Southbridge School we follow the Structured Literacy approach. In the senior school - Communities 1, 2 & 3 (Years 4-6) the classrooms follow the iDeal Framework of learning which follows the teaching of 40 explicit concepts in a particular order which builds on previous learning each week. Students are grouped according to assessment working their way through 4 stages. This framework works in conjunction with Reading and Writing lessons transferring learning from Structured Literacy into Reading and Writing.
