EAST CLUB Newsletter # 2
Information from Mrs Stoliker, for those who have entered.
THANK YOU for entering the Ellesmere Agricultural, Science and Technology Club. EAST day is Friday Nov 4th 2022 at the A & P Showgrounds.
Please remember that all children showing pets on EAST Club Day must be accompanied by an adult. EAST Club is run by a committee of volunteers, not the school. Parents are responsible for the children and their pets on the day.
Pets
If you have entered a pet, you need to start thinking about your pet project. Start taking notes or keeping a diary. You should include information about what your pet eats, how you care for it, what your pet likes to do. Please include photos of you and your pet, where it lives, where it came from, any funny stories, what it can do and even examples of what your pet eats. Pets will not be judged without a written project.
Pet projects are due in Wednesday 19th October - week 1 of term 4. Give them to your teacher.
Anyone who does not hand in a project will not be able to bring their pet to EAST Club day. Projects are marked by your class teachers, and are brought to EAST Club day to go on display for all to see.
Pet entries are judged in three categories : 1)Your pet project (the written project about your pet that you give to your class teacher); 2) knowledge (on the day the judges will ask you about your pet); and 3) presentation and handling (how healthy and well-groomed your pet is and how well the child handles it).
Science and Technology
These projects are judged on EAST Club day Nov 4th, at the showgrounds, so you will need to be with your project. Please deliver them on the day. If they are not too big the students can bring them when they come with the school, or they can be dropped off the day before by prior arrangement. Science and Technology projects (e.g. How grass grows or Lego creation) must also be accompanied by a written project explaining how you planned and went about your construction, experiment, research etc, including photos and examples etc.
Science and technology projects are also judged in three categories: 1) written project, this will be judged on the EAST day; 2) knowledge judges will ask you about your creation; 3) presentation, how well made or creative your project is.
There are many science and technology project ideas on the internet. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8GmwVKrwrATueeeCPexuHvaP3HT-cQK8

‘Growing Junior Gardeners’ provides seeds and plants to help students get their gardens started. These seeds and plants are generously donated by the Lions Club of Ellesmere.
Gardens are judged in the summer, in three categories: 1) your written project all about your garden with pictures or photos; 2) knowledge judges will ask you about your garden; 3) presentation, how well laid out and functional your garden is.
