Southbridge School Jump Jam Team goes to South Island Nationals

Nicole Thornton —

On Saturday 30th October there were 14 very excited kids getting ready for the Jump Jam South Island Nationals Competition in Community One at school. After months of practising it was finally time to showcase the routine on stage to a live audience.

At the start of August, we submitted our online video entry and waited nervously to see if we had made it through to South Island Nationals. Then while in lockdown the email confirmation came through...we had made it through and were placed into the Advanced category so we got to work and perfected the routine and make the choreography and formation changes. Our chosen song was A Little Party Never Killed Nobody with a costume theme of 1920s Gatsby. Our team name was Southbridge Party

On competition day we headed to Cashmere High School. Southbridge was up first which meant that we were then able to watch every single school that came after us. Due to being in Level 2, the teams were held out the back before being brought out onto the stage to perform and then were seated in the audience directly after their performance. Southbridge Party performed incredibly well, they were loud, in time, and brought their A-game to the stage. The team walked away with 4 awards which is an amazing achievement at this high level of competition and made their two coaches incredibly proud. They received the following awards and came 4th overall which is a tremendous achievement.

Merit in Presentation
