From the Principal's Desk
Week 6 - Term 3, 2019. Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa!
Kia ora e te whānau!
It has been a successful fortnight for some of our students and I want to congratulate the following people...
Canterbury Winter Tournament - Southbridge A Football Team
Last week our A football team represented the Ellesmere district at the Canterbury Winter Tournament in Christchurch after they won the Ellesmere competition. For such a small school, we were hugely competitive and punched well above our weight, winning 2 games, drawing 1 and losing 1. They came fourth in their pool and we are extremely proud of them all! Thank you to all the parents who helped with training, transport and support on the day and a huge thank you to Mrs McCartin for organising everything as well as managing and supervising the event.
Ngā Mātāpuna o te Waihora Speech Competition
For the first time, our Kāhui Ako - Ngā Mātāpuna o te Waihora held an interschool speech competition for the Year 5 and 6 students who were placed first and second in their own school speech competitions. We had students from Southbridge School competing against Leeston Consolidated School and Dunsandel School students and the standard of speeches was extremely high, as was the entertainment level for the audience. All four students did a fantastic job and a special congratulations goes to Tessa Tuffnell who was placed 3rd in the Year 5 competition.
Ngā mihi nui,
