Southbridge School Jump Jam team placed 1st at the Strictly Open competition.

Nicole Thornton —

On Saturday 13th of August, 2022 the Southbridge School Jump Jam team competed in the Strictly Open Jump Jam competition held at Cashmere High School. This is something that the team had been working towards all year with their routine to the song 'Party Rock Anthem' - the team name was Southbridge Shuffle. The team practices during lunch times and also once a week after school.

We were awarded Excellence in Sportsmanship, Distinction in Presentation, and Distinction in Technical Execution walking away with 1st place and a trophy.

This trophy will be displayed in the entrance to the school office and sits proudly next to the 2nd place we brought home last year.

During the July school holidays, we also received the wonderful news that we have made it into the South Island Jump Jam Nationals competition which will be held in November this year. To qualify for this the team submitted a video of their routine to the judges and were marked against specific criteria. We are very excited to create our end-of-year routine where we get to make formation and choreography changes and also add costumes.

The 2022 Jump Jam team is made up of 10 Year 5 & 6 students and coached by Vicky Joyce and Mrs. Thornton.

2022 Jump Jam team members:

McKenna Chynoweth, Tayla Joyce, Shae Welsh, Ethan Rolton, Zaria de Thierry, Lana Taefu, Lucia Shaw, Clover Arnold-Dunn, Luminitza Torres, and Lorelei Gousmett
