Head lice
At this time of year when the seasons change it is quite normal for the odd case of Head Lice to pop up, and it is nothing to be ashamed of.
Please check your child's hair regularly especially if they are scratching their scalp. If we suspect a child may have Head Lice while at school, we will call their parent and ask them to be picked up and treated. They may return to school the next day after treatment. Please see Kidshealth for further information: https://www.kidshealth.org.nz/how-get-rid-head-lice
Head lice is an all too common issue at school and getting rid of them for good can take a long time and be very expensive.
Did you know that you can access the treatments for free? If you book your child in for a (free) doctors appointment with the medical centre they can give you a prescription that will allow you to pick up the shampoo etc at no cost (other than maybe a small $5 pharmacy prescription fee).
