Congratulations Hikurangi Ratu (Waikato-Tainui)
A former student of Southern Cross Campus got his Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Civil Engineering
Graduation was a day of mixed emotion for Hikurangi Ratu (Waikato-Tainui), who got his Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Civil Engineering in September, graduating at Te Kohinga Mārama marae.
“There are so many emotions. I’m feeling overwhelmed, sad and happy. It’s not the end, but the beginning of something new for all of us. I’ve been looking forward to this day for a long time - to stand in front of my family and friends to get my degree.”
Hikurangi grew up in Māngere, Auckland, attended Southern Cross Campus and chose Waikato because it was close to home.
At school, Hikurangi excelled in science and decided to go into engineering - initially electrical engineering before switching to civil engineering.
He is now working in his dream job, as a Graduate Site Engineer for Fletcher Construction on the Waikato Expressway project.
His studies at Waikato helped set him up for a successful career in the roading and construction industry.
Congratulations Hikurangi, we are proud of you and look forward to celebrating your continued success!
