Welcome Back to Southern Cross Campus for the 2024 School Year.

We are excited to be back and are looking forward to seeing everyone after the long holiday break. We hope the new year has started well and that everyone is refreshed and ready for a great Term 1 of learning. 

We extend a special welcome to the new families that join the Southern Cross Campus (SCC) family in 2024.

Our Goals for 2024-2025

This year, as highlighted by Mr Peter Parussini at our Prizegiving ceremonies in 2023, we are focusing firmly on student achievement. Our five key goals for 2024 and 2025, in short are:

· Achievement: Helping every student reach their potential.

· Teaching and Learning: Providing the best learning experience.

· Family Engagement: Encouraging everyone to take part in school life.

· School-wide Literacy: Strengthening reading, writing and numeracy skills.

· Uniting the School: Bringing all of us closer together.

These goals came because of our surveys and meetings with you during 2023.

In line with these goals and advice from the Ministry of Education we are making some changes, listed below.

Attendance and Extra-Curricular Activities

All students should come to school on-time, every day. If your children are not at school they are not learning. To encourage students to attend more regularly we will be contacting you more frequently when your child is absent.

To participate in extra-curricular school activities including sports, students need at least 80% attendance. These activities are not just fun; they help students learn new skills, make friends, and grow. Regular school attendance is important for learning and being part of our school community.

New Mobile Phone Policy

We're updating our mobile phone policy in line with the New Zealand Government request. Our intention is to keep our focus on learning and growth. While we understand the need to stay in touch with family, it's also important to reduce distractions. We will operate an “away for the day” model. We'll share more details soon and look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Ka Ora Ka Ako Healthy Lunches

School lunches will be provided from tomorrow. Please contact the office if you need to update any special dietary requirements for your child/children.
