Niuean Language Week at SCC

SCC —

Term 4 started with the celebration of the Niue Language Week welcoming the theme: ‘Leveki mo e Feaki e Vagahau Niue ma Anoiha’ Protect and Nurture Vagahau Niue for the Future.

The theme for Niue Language Week is special and important this year as we celebrated 50 years of Self-Government. Protecting our language for the younger generation is vital and nurturing needs to start at home from our parents and grandparents.

On Monday, we opened with an amazing presentation hosted by Mr Fakalanu then followed by the flag raising as we sang the National Anthem together.

Tuesday and Wednesday were accompanied by the morning activities consisting of learning the greeting, colours, vowels and consonants, variety of stories, explanation of artefacts, and lastly the tasting of some of our island delicacies.

Thursday was the showcase of the songs and dances performed by different year levels. Thank you to the tutors and parents who made themselves available on this day. Some of the Niue students from college were able to participate too. Special recognition was extended to them for joining the Junior school assembly.

We were privileged and honoured to share our 50 years of Self-Government with our Southern Cross Campus family.

Special acknowledgements to all our supporters throughout the week: SLT team, College and Junior School Teachers, Preschool team, Support Staff, and Admin Staff. Fakaue Oue Tulou ke he tau 2024.
