Daffodil Day 2021
In this article find out what Daffodil Day under Level 2 restrictions looked like….
Despite all of what Covid had to throw at us we still managed to pull off a spectacular Daffodil Day at Springston School. On Thursday 23rd September we all celebrated New Zealand’s national Daffodil Day. Everyone made an outstanding effort to dress up in their brightest yellows, greens and/or oranges.
At school we had a Spring Parade to start off with, followed by a free sausage sizzle thanks to FOSS and a few quiet activities in the library. Congratulations to the following people for getting a placement in our best dressed or colouring competition.
Colouring Competition winners: Ezra, Merryn, Freya and Jenna
Best Dressed Winners: Renee, Carlos, Gus, Bella, Anna, Caleb, Lucy, Patu, Cerys and Mason.
Daffodil Day is a very important day to support and recognise those suffering with Cancer. Cancer remains New Zealand’s number one killer, with more than 23,000 people diagnosed per year and and a further 9,500 deaths each year, representing 31 percent of all deaths recorded in New Zealand.
Today we fundraised an exceptional $720 and we hope to have a Bake Sale early in Term Four since we couldn’t have it today under Level 2 restrictions.
If you can contribute to this cause please do. This is something that anyone from anywhere could experience.
