Board Update: Sam Sharland
What a school board does in a nutshell
The board makes sure the kura school runs smoothly and looks after students' needs. They do things like planning what the school aims to achieve, managing money and property, and making sure everyone's safe. They work with the community, set long-term goals, and check how things are going. The board also hires and supports the principal and ensures fair treatment of all staff. Meetings are held regularly, and while not all business is open to the public, anyone is welcome. Sometimes they discuss private matters like complaints or discipline behind closed doors.

About me
I am currently working as a School Road Safety Advisor for Selwyn District Council. This is a great job as I get to see how other schools operate and I advise them on safer journeys to and from school for their students and families.
My daughter is in year three, and we have really enjoyed being a part of the Springston community.
I am proud to be the presiding member of Springston School Board. I want to continue to see the school succeed in supporting amazing young people and have an environment in which they thrive and grow.
