Space Theme and Matariki

Rochelle Hiddlestone —

Tuna Tahi Learning during Term 2

In Tuna Tahi we have been  learning about Matariki and space. Our class came up with some wonderful questions e.g

Is the moon made of cheese?

Is pluto a real planet?

What is a dwarf planet?

Do people live on the Moon?

We enjoyed our Matariki theme and discussed how we might celebrate as a family. Check out some of our Matariki stars!

Truck Visit and ECan Visit

We had some amazing vehicles come and visit our Junior School. We loved learning about the Mackinator (Big Mack Truck) and having a go at getting in the drivers' seat.

Environment Canterbury also came and discussed recycling with us and taught us how to remember which items are allowed to go in recycling. It goes like this

1 - Thumb up!

2- Peace sign

5- High Five!

We have enjoyed this term and our favourite things were:

"Making the stars and seeing the trucks"- Hudson and William

"Making the stars and Matariki Night"- Talya, Arlo

" I liked Matariki and skipping for Jumping June" - Lexi

" I liked Matariki, spce learning and Jumping June'- Madison

"I liked learning about space" -Isla

"I liked learning about the vehicles"- Ethan

" I liked learning about Matariki and how many moon there are"- Cleo

" I liked making the stars, we learnt how to weave"- Oliver

We look forward to more learning and our Jumping June Event for next term.
