Springston students enjoy Science Roadshow

On Wednesday students in Yr's 3-8 had the opportunity to visit the Science Roadshow at the Springston Community Hall.

Each session began with a demonstration on the dynamics of electricity called, Sparks Arcs and Gherkins - Te whakaari māpura, tāwhana, kamoriki hoki.

The students were then given the opportunity to try the exhibits that covered:

  • Astronomy — Te mātai arorangi
  • Ecology and the environment — Te hauropi me te taiao
  • Gravity — Te tō-ā-papa
  • Heat — Te pōkākā
  • Human lab — Te taiwhanga whakamātau āheinga tangata
  • Sound — Te oro

The last part of the session was a demonstration of the amazing properties of water and how it cycles through our world.

A definite highlight was the hovercraft, grip strength, the skeleton cycle, and the electro-magnet chair especially when the teacher was chosen as the guinea pig.

A big ngā mihi to our seniors Aden, Renee, Grace, Koa, Jack, Krystal, Isobel, Maia, Emaē, Bella, Polly, and Kayden who volunteered to be the science explainers on the day.
