Springston students enjoy Science Roadshow
On Wednesday students in Yr's 3-8 had the opportunity to visit the Science Roadshow at the Springston Community Hall.
Each session began with a demonstration on the dynamics of electricity called, Sparks Arcs and Gherkins - Te whakaari māpura, tāwhana, kamoriki hoki.
The students were then given the opportunity to try the exhibits that covered:
- Astronomy — Te mātai arorangi
- Ecology and the environment — Te hauropi me te taiao
- Gravity — Te tō-ā-papa
- Heat — Te pōkākā
- Human lab — Te taiwhanga whakamātau āheinga tangata
- Sound — Te oro
The last part of the session was a demonstration of the amazing properties of water and how it cycles through our world.
A definite highlight was the hovercraft, grip strength, the skeleton cycle, and the electro-magnet chair especially when the teacher was chosen as the guinea pig.
