Principal's Message

Dianne Prendergast —

Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa,

I’m delighted to introduce myself as the new Principal of Springston School – Te Kura o Makonui. It’s a privilege to join a school known for its rich traditions, strong sense of whānau, and commitment to inspiring both excellence and outstanding character in every learner.

Springston School is an exciting and vibrant place for children to learn. It is a friendly and positive school, where we reap the benefits of our beautiful rural environment while keeping a firm focus on developing the skills and attributes our tamariki need for the 21st century. We encourage our students to have a voice, take ownership of their learning, and grow into independent, confident individuals.

Springston School embodies a strong vision of Inspiring Excellence and Outstanding Character, brought to life each day through the A+ learner characteristics and the way students and staff model positive actions and behaviours. It’s a place where academic rigour is thoughtfully balanced with heart, where cherished traditions like Pet Day sit proudly alongside modern teaching practices. As the school continues to grow, it remains true to its small school, family feel. We are proud of our supportive, inclusive environment where every child is known, celebrated, and encouraged to thrive.

I warmly welcome you to come visit and see firsthand what makes Springston School such a special place to learn and grow. Come and meet me, chat with our wonderful team, and let us show you around our beautiful school.

Together, let’s continue to inspire excellence and outstanding character, in every learner, every day.

Ngā manaakitanga,

Kirsty Panapa
