Anglican Missions Lenten Appeal 2022: Uganda

Anglican Missions —

85% of children with disabilities in Uganda do not receive an education, and many do not have access to healthcare. For rural and impoverished communities, disability services are often out of reach.

In Uganda, only 15 percent of children with disabilities receive education through special schools (5%) and inclusive schools (10%). 57 percent of all children do not have access to health care or medicines when they are sick.

In a country where access to health care facilities becomes more limited the poorer and more rural you are, life is particularly hard for children with disabilities and their families.

The Rwenzori Special Needs Foundation (RSNF), co-founded in 2010 by Dot Muir, a Kiwi special needs teacher, was established to address this issue.

In 2020, they supported 394 children with disabilities, ranging from cleft lip, club foot to down syndrome and retardation. RSNF not only funded their surgeries but also provided transportation, meals, welfare packages, school supplies, uniforms, and vocational training to each of those children. Covid-19 has not made it easier for them and they need your support to continue their life-saving work.

Please pray for this important work, and if you are led to donate to this cause, you can do so here.
