Peace-building in Apaa – Update from Nick and Tessa in Uganda
Last week we celebrated Peace Sunday here at St. Barnabas, praying for peace in our world, and considering Jesus’ call to be peacemakers in our own spheres.
And now a recent update from the Laings demonstrates what peace-making can actually look like on the ground.
Tessa tells how seeking to help bring a peaceful resolution to a long-standing land conflict in northern Uganda has led her to start learning an entirely new language so that she can better understand the parties on all sides of the conflict and build relationships of trust with them. It’s great to read how her long years of PhD study in this area have paid off in giving her the perspective to better see the conflict from all sides. But it’s clear that the building of peace is still a slow and uncertain process that needs watering with our prayers.
There’s also some encouraging news from Nick about the expansion of the One Day Clinics and fresh growth happening in their local church. But much better you get the story direct from them, so why not read their full update (with more pics!) here
And here’s a link to an inspiring podcast in which Nick is interviewed on (among other things) OneDay Health, faith, money and how young Christians might think about their futures: https://www.christiansforimpact.org/episodes/nicholas-laing
