Fabulous Ladies Day Out!

Jo Cotton —

Judy Dodwell the Leader of the AAW Inbetweens organised a fabulous Ladies Day out at the Hub, Hornby recently.

With limited seats, people were keen to get their tickets, which entitled them to an exceptional goody bag, a talk and demonstration by Casey Holden and Arnya Rogers of Rodney Wayne Hornby, a talk and makeover demonstration by Anne Robertson, Estee Lauder Beauty Adviser at Farmers and a Style Workshop with Caroline Eve and Vicki McMillan from Beauty & Style. The day long event was hosted by The Hub Hornby and the wonderful Oriana Toasland, manager of Shampoo n Things. Within our goody bags, we each received a $10 Hub Hornby voucher to go towards the purchase of our lunch from one of the many food places and cafes in the Hub Hornby.

Margaret Harper and Shona Wray were the lucky recipients of a hair blow wave and style. Both looked like they enjoyed every minute of it!  We learned a lot about products that some of us had never heard of before and how to use them to great effect. The goody bags contained some samples which some of us are already putting to good use. Four lucky ladies were fortunate enough to be sitting on the lucky chairs and won themselves a very generous voucher for a treatment at Rodney Wayne Hornby. Spot prizes were given out to those who had a funny or a not-so-good hairdressing experience. One story was of a very cute 4-year old who had her ear nicked by a well-known Christchurch hairdresser back in the 70's, thankfully it didn't put her completely off hairdressers!

After morning tea, Pam Chapman was chosen to have a beauty makeover by Anne Robertson. We all learned some new tricks and tips on applying our makeup and Pam looked even more beautiful than she normally does. We do hope that Peter appreciated the new look when she got home! Anne gave out some lovely Estee Lauder gift bags as spot prizes, one was for the lady who had traveled the furthest to be there, and the lucky winner had come all the way from the Gold Coast, Australia!

We had an hour and a half for lunch which was plenty of time to enjoy lunch and do a bit of shopping or exploring the Hub Hornby. Some of us shot over the road to check out The Hornby Dress Mart. I confess I did buy a pair of shoes; however, they were for my son, not me! In the afternoon Vicki McMillan showed us some new style tips, what colours are in for this season, and how a scarf can dramatically change an outfit. I'm sure with the discount we all received there were a few items of clothing purchased from Caroline Eve.

It was a very enjoyable and fun Ladies' day out and a big Thank You must go to Judy Dodwell for organising such a successful and fabulous event.
