Christingle Service - Dec 24th 4pm

Jo Cotton —

Christingle Service for Children – Christingle means ‘Christ Light.’ Saturday 24 December @ 4pm

A special service for children and families re-enacting the Christmas story where children are welcome to come dressed up as Angels, Shepherds, Wise Men, Mary, or Joseph, and we have costumes for dress-up too.

A mixture of traditional and modern carols, and all children will receive a Christingle.

What is a Christingle you ask?

A Christingle is a symbolic object used in the Christmas services of many Christian denominations. Christingle, from a word of German origin, Christkindl, meaning "Little Christ Child", is used to celebrate Jesus Christ, as the "Light of the World".

Christingles are oranges wrapped in red tape, decorated with lollies, with a candle on the top. The symbols are explained in the service.

If you have never been to a Christingle service, we welcome you to come and join us in the joyful celebration of sharing the light of Jesus and spreading the message of hope.

A great Christmas Eve tradition for families of all ages to come to, and it's all over in an hour!

Saturday 24 December @ 4pm @ St Barnabas Church, Fendalton.

(And if you'd like to come and help make 120 Christingle oranges, we make those at 10.00am on Sat 24th in the Hall - many hands make many oranges! Thank you.
