The Path to Equality
St. Barnabas parishioner Isaac Heap a year 12 student, along with some of his fellow students at Christ’s College, recently made a short documentary called The Path to Equality.
Their documentary won a Special Mention at the recent DocEdge 2021 Student Short Documentary Competition in New Zealand. In this 7-minute documentary, we hear the firsthand account of what it was like on March 15th 2019 for Imam Ibrahim Abdelhalim the then Imam of the Linwood Mosque. There are also interviews with Meng Foon the New Zealand Race Relations Commissioner and Lianne Dalziel, Mayor of Christchurch talking about the effect of racism and inequality in our society. It asks some big questions, one of which struck me “How can we build a strong and healthy community?” I believe that we all have a part to play in addressing this. This is a well written and insightful documentary which is beautifully presented and filmed with some familiar backdrops. I highly recommend it. You can see ithere
