Children Moving to the Beat at St Barnabas Mainly Music
Each Friday morning large numbers of children and their parents and caregivers gather in the St Barnabas Hall for a wonderful morning of fun, music, dance and friendship.
Beginning at 10am the session consists of catchy tunes which all have actions or include the use of colourful props. Caregivers and children sing along and get involved in the actions.
The young children are engrossed in the programme as they learn the songs, actions and movement. It's wonderful to see the children socialise and learn to play cooperatively following the session.
There are 34 families enrolled in the Mainly Music programme and each session averages 23 families with 30 children.
The session lasts for 30 minutes and is followed by morning tea for both children and adults. It's a chance to catch up with friends and support each other in the demanding role of parenthood. The St Barnabas leaders and helpers are always there to chat to and offer encouragement.
“What’s really helped me from the group sessions was the realisation that every family has their share of tough times and issues. Being part of a group where most people are going through similar stages in their lives has really helped.”

Mainly Music is an opportunity for the church to provide a positive, fun morning for children and families where they can engage with music, other children and families and with our faith. They engage with the Christian faith through the love and care we provide and through the Christian songs. We also celebrate Christian festivals like Christmas and Easter.
