At Play Group with Don Rowlands

Don Rowlands —

I enjoy pre-school children, especially their creativity, learning and fun. I am aware that Jesus had the time and energy to be with them.

I am the father of four adults and grandfather to thirteen mokopuna, with my wife, Olive Lawson. For periods of my life I have been a shared parent and step-parent. Being far from the ‘perfect’ parent, I needed to step up and learn some strategies.

My mahi (work) history included fifteen years with the Home and Family Society where I led parenting groups, The Blended Family Support Group, and did individual counselling for parents and couples. I currently work at Petersgate Counselling Trust two days a week.

It is good to be back sitting on the floor interacting with kids after a long break from helping at ‘Mainly Music.’ So far I’ve loved observing the positive learning offered by leaders and parents at Play Group. I hope you can all meet my crocodile and enjoy the rhymes of “The Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly.”

Play group for pre-schoolers meets every Wednesday in term-time 9.15-11.30am in the Fendall Hall. Contact Helen Wakefield 021 307 878 to join for 2024.
