Here’s the second video reflection for Lent. This time we're looking at the saying: “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

After you've watched the video, pause and consider the questions below:

• Jesus emphasises this saying by beginning it with “Truly I say to you...” Do you think Jesus was elevating it above his other teachings and sayings? Or do you think it might have been for the benefit of the listener? Reflect on the reasons why the repentant rebel may have needed the additional emphasis.

• Reflect on those two small but significant words: “with me”...

• The word ‘paradise’ refers to a lush, enclosed garden. How might this contrast with visions of an afterlife that sound more like floating on clouds?

• In your personal faith framework, how important is the hope of resurrected Life in the New Heavens and New Earth?

• Spend some time imagining a restored and healed world ruled by Love and Justice. How can you partner with God to bring that kind of ‘heaven’ on earth today?
