This month's Van outing took us to Christchurch’s premier outdoor sports facility, Ngā Puna Wai Sports Hub.

The facility combines community playing fields and recreation opportunities with international standard sports facilities, and is located beside Aidanfield on Augustine Drive, Wigram.

Ngā Puna Wai features an athletics track and field, hockey pitches, rugby league fields, tennis courts, a centralised sports hub, a boulevard, and two grass multi-purpose community fields and has a café and rooms available for hire for private functions. Everyone is welcome to come and use Ngā Puna Wai, take part in sports, support the players or use the sporting fields.

Shirley-Anne Collins gave us some background information on the Sports Hubs, and Don Mackenzie talked to us about the Athletics facility. We then headed down the road to The Old Vicarage for an enjoyable afternoon tea.
