CWS International Appeals - don't forget Afghanistan & East Africa!

Christian World Service —

Christian World Services NZ has a number of appeals to assist those in need.

Afghanistan Earthquake Appeal

CWS partner Community World Service Asia immediately sent an assessment team to eastern Afghanistan after the 5.9 magnitude earthquake on June 22. More than 920 people have lost their lives.

Homes and livelihoods have been destroyed. CWSA staff carried out a rapid assessment and have released the first of three emergency cash grants of NZ$157 to 200 severely affected families in the worst affected Geyan district. Donations to the Afghanistan Emergency Appeal  will assist people with food, hygiene, shelter and other urgent needs in the immediate aftermath of the quake. We value your prayer for all people in Afghanistan.

East Africa Appeal

CWS is appealing for people facing famine in East Africa. People in Somalia, Ethiopia, and Kenya are in urgent need of food and water. After the failure of three and sometimes four rainy seasons, many people are at risk of famine in what is regarded as one of the most severe droughts in living memory. The drought is compounded by the Covid-19 pandemic, conflict, desert locusts, and now a further surge in food and commodity prices due to the conflict in Ukraine.

ACT Alliance is distributing emergency cash, food, fast growing seeds, animal feed, water and sanitation and other assistance. Please keep families throughout the world facing hunger in your prayers. To donate to the appeal click here
