Navigating Life's Seasons with Hope. Women's event Aug 31

This year we are hosting a Women's Event in the Hall on Sat afternoon of the 31st August, 11.30am for a 12 noon start. We will begin with a lunch and some fun getting to know each other. Then we will spend the afternoon listening to four very different speakers on the topic of Navigating Life's Seasons with Hope. The afternoon will end with an afternoon tea.

Our four speakers are:

Alanna Chapman – 27 Seconds Wine

Survivors of Slavery. How Community Can Foster Hope. 

 Alanna & her husband founded the wine brand 27seconds. 27seconds donates its profits to Hagar, an organization working with survivors of slavery and severe abuse. Alanna will share stories of slavery survivors and how Hagar has helped change their lives.

 

Penelope Paynter

My Faith Experience.

Penelope grew up & was educated in Christchurch. She has been married to Selwyn for 45 years & they have 3 adult children: Caroline & Freddie live in Christchurch & Georgina lives in Auckland with her husband & their grandson Charlie. Auckland is now her favourite place to visit. She has a Masters degree in English literature & is a Reading Recovery & literacy support teacher; reading is her absolutely favourite pastime.

Penelope has been a member of Lifestreams at St. Barnabas for 6 & half years.  She says that “the teaching, music & community at St Barnabas have encouraged & strengthened my faith & it is a place where I feel at peace.”

Hope in the Face of Tragedy.

Jo was born in Amberley, lived in Waipara, Waikuku, Christchurch, Auckland and Nelson. She is married to Jeff and they have three adult children. She started her working life in logistics, and then various roles from school secretary, teacher aid, printroom manager, Vicar's wife and now is the Deacon Assistant and Pastoral Care Coordinator at St Barnabas Fendalton. She is a trained Professional Life Coach and is completing her Theology Degree at Otago University.
