St Barnabas Connect - Friday 24 September, 2021

Greetings People of St Barnabas!

Ministry at Alert Level 2

As you will be aware, last Wednesday we moved to Alert Level 2. This means that we won’t have to provide for overflow seating because our maximum number has been lifted to 100. However please continue recording your arrival at church, sanitise your hands, pick up your own pewsheet and place your offertory in the plate. Also note the following changes: physical distancing has become ‘appropriate distancing’, Communion will be in one kind (wafer only) and there will be morning tea. Also note that if you are reading or speaking in church, you do not need to wear a face covering. Choir begins next week.

Hall Project - Further Update

Now that the CCC has granted the Building Consent for the Hall Upgrade, we can move to the next stage. Our Heritage Architect Tony Ussher has completed his contract with us and will step aside. Chris Wilson will take up the role of Project Architect and will guide the project from now on. Chris will begin to prepare a contract that will be signed in the coming month or so with Hanham and Philp with the hope that work will begin early next year. In the meantime the Trust is still receiving donations and this is very encouraging. If you have not yet made a donation, please consider doing this.

The Joy of the Lord

During the week the UN warned of the triple threats of Climate, Covid and Conflict. These days it’s easy to feel despairing about the state of the world but as Christians we must never lose that most fundamental of all Christian characteristics - joy. The beginning of joy is to consider the wonder of God’s gift of life to us - the undeserved gift of our existence. With the passion and energy of joy in our hearts, we can work toward bringing in God’s kingdom of justice and righteousness.
