Fried Chicken Thursday

Jo James —

Last Thursday the Student Wellbeing Committee sold fried chicken during lunchtime  s part of a mental health and wellbeing promotion. The group felt that anxiety was a prevalent problem among their peers and wanted to highlight some resources that could help in times of need.

These were:

Clear Fear – a free app that helps you to cope with the physical responses to anxiety as well as changing thoughts and behaviours and releasing emotions.

Hallow – a Catholic prayer app that is excellent for those who are searching for deeper spiritual lives.

0800 Anxiety – (0800 269 4389) a free, fully confidential helpline that gives support to anybody who is experiencing anxiety in any form.

During the term the committee worked hard to organise and promote the event and were thrilled with the amazing response. Connecting over kai is good for mental health and it was great to see the enjoyment on the faces of our students as they ran to get into the line and then chat to each other while eating. Special mention must also go to the chefs at the dining hall who gave up their time to prepare the delicious chicken and support us.

All funds raised go directly into the health and wellbeing of students at St Bede’s.

Your support is so greatly appreciated. Thank you.
