Heritage Careers Event 09 August

Are you passionate about your culture and heritage? Does the idea of sharing the stories and treasures of your ancestors inspire you? A role in the heritage sector may be right for you, and there are opportunities to launch a career in arts and heritage right here in Ōtautahi.

This FREE event for senior high school and university students will introduce you to the many and varied careers in arts and heritage. This year Careers in Heritage will focus on roles working with heritage in the landscape, such as architectural historians, archaeologists, archivists, conservators, heritage educators, and heritage engineers. Guest speakers from across the sector will share what's great about their jobs, and let you know what skills or qualifications you would need to do the same work.

A light morning tea will be served, and there will be opportunities to mingle with the speakers and ask questions.

This event is a partnership between the University of Canterbury Teece Museum and the Christchurch City Council Heritage Team, run with the assistance of Christchurch City Libraries.

Are you interested in finding out about Criminal Justice?

Come and join us at UC Criminal Justice Day, this event is completely free if you are in year 12 or 13 and want to find out more about Criminal Justice at the University of Canterbury

You will have a chance to engage in discussions of real cases that touch on topics related to 1st year Criminal Justice. You will also have an opportunity to meet current students studying in these areas.

UC Criminal Justice Day is focused around the Bachelor of Criminal Justice which has a strong vocational focus that is relevant to careers in areas such as law enforcement, corrections, offender rehabilitation, working with young offenders, criminal law, security and border control.

Registrations are required but this event is free, pizza is provided for lunch and you will meet like minded people.

Victoria University Open Day

We are delighted to invite you and your senior students, as well as their parents and whānau to our Open Day on Friday 26 August.

Open Day is the best opportunity to see all that the University has to offer and get a taste of life in Wellington. The programme includes:

  • Sample lectures and subject information sessions
  • Expos showcasing university faculties, schools, and student services
  • Tours of our accommodation, campuses, and facilities
  • Opportunities to talk with current students, and staff
  • Course Planning for students on Saturday 27 August

ARA’S APPLICATION EVENING

As we move into Term 3, ARA’S application deadlines start to come into focus. NASDA, Midwifery, Medical Imaging, Nursing, New Zealand Broadcasting School, Osteopathy, Social Work and Vet nursing are all programs with closing dates.

All of these programs also have ‘Additional Requirements’ which often include a personal statement and referee requests.

Term 3 is also a good time for any student considering studying a trades program at Woolston to think about applying. The last few years applications at Woolston campus have been through the roof. Getting an application in early can help secure a place whilst students continue the hunt for an apprenticeship.

Ara's Application Evening is an opportunity for prospective learners and their whānau or supporters to seek guidance on how to apply to study at Ara. Ara's Youth team will be on hand to support individuals with Admission and Enrolment forms, Additional Documents, Academic Entry Criteria and verifying ID documents.

If you wish to apply on the night please bring your NZ Birth Certificate or NZ Passport or Overseas Passport and visa information (if applicable)

The event will be able to be attended in person on campus or online via Zoom. Please ensure you indicate in the form below how you will attend this event


The evening will be guided by the following schedule:
5:25pm Welcome, refreshments available, Zoom link activates
5:30pm Ara presentation begins; live and on Zoom
5:50pm Q+A session with Ara's Youth Reps
6:30pm Event finish or when Q+A ends
