Kelvin Fisher —

The 2022 club season finished last Saturday for our St Bede's team with the Senior team going down narrowly 68-71 to Gators Grey in their semi-final of the U20 grade.

In a bruising encounter, an under manned Bede's side found themselves down by a considerable margin in the 3rd quarter however staged a dogged fightback to give themselves a chance in the dying moments to send the game to overtime. The clock transpired against Bede's and a rushed shot was not to find the basket and the lads trudged off the court on the wrong side of the scoreboard.

The focus now shifts to South Island tournaments, the first time in several years these events have been held and the excitement levels are high amongst players, coaches, managers and supporters.

With the events in Nelson over the last week the junior tournament was in jeopardy but will proceed as planned and the St Bede's side hit the road tomorrow morning. This will be a new experience for many of this team and one which will provide an opportunity to learn and develop as the tournament is progressing.

The pool play draw for the Junior team is:

3.00pm vs Kaiapoi
