CanTeen Head Shave

George Gunn —

This week George Gunn launched our 2022 CanTeen campaign with the following words –

Today I'm here to talk about CanTeen. CanTeen is an organisation close to our hearts as it is the support for teenagers living with cancer and teenagers who have lost a parent to cancer. Past and present Bedeans have been or are members of CanTeen. For us, as a school, this is a chance to put our words into action and help them out. St Bede’s and CanTeen have had a strong connection together since 2002. Over the years we have raised about $750 000.The money is great but more importantly it is about putting yourself outside your comfort zone for someone else. In past years we have established the ’Run For A Life’ campaign to support teenagers living with cancer. Unfortunately we can no longer do this campaign due to the ongoing world issues. But this creates an opportunity for us to do something else… This year we have organised a ‘Canteen Head Shave’. Teenagers who have to have cancer treatment often lose their hair. We have the choice to lose ours to help them. There is a requirement that you will need to raise a minimum of $50 to participate and help out. A ‘Give A Little’ page will be established next week. We will come together at lunchtime on FRIDAY 9 AUGUST to kick us off I want to invite our fellow Bedean brother Jack Dennehy-Coles to start off this great campaign.
