BYOD Responsibilities and Issues

Mr Ben Eldridge —

As the term comes to an end it is a good time to take stock of your son's BYOD device and make sure that everything is working as it should be.

We see a lot of boys at the College who have forgotten their charger for the day, or have broken their charger, and others who are waiting for an interminably long time while their device is repaired.

We would like to remind you that it is a requirement under BYOD that every boy at the College has a device. The specifications can be found on the College Library website under learning>e-learning>recommended device specifications (see link below).

The College has only a half a dozen or so devices available to boys at any one time and they are meant to be a stop-gap solution for those boys who are waiting on repairs or have forgotten their charger, so you should not rely on there always being a computer available to your son.

A good source of cheap third-party batteries and adapters is www.laptopbattery.co.nz

If your device needs servicing and it is still under a year old, you should take it back to the shop it was purchased from. Otherwise, for fastest and most affordable repairs try Service Plus on Pilgrim Place off of Moorhouse Ave
