Year 13 student Ryan Wilson represented the University of Canterbury at the UTSNZ 2023 National Tertiary Futsal Championship.

The championship, held in Palmerston North from 24-27 August, included futsal teams from the University of Auckland, AUT University, Massey University, Victoria University, the University of Canterbury and the University of Waikato. It consisted of pool play, where you played against each university team once, and a final. 

After the five games of pool play, the University of Canterbury had won four games and drawn one, ending top of the table with 13 points, 50 goals scored and 12 goals conceded. They then faced the University of Waikato in the final of the men's competition. 

The final was an exciting watch. Canterbury came back from 3-0 down to win the game 5-4.
