Greetings from St Bede's

Mr Justin Boyle —

As the second term comes to a close, a brief delay in the start of the gym rebuild allowed is to have a full school assembly.  At that, we reflected on and acknowledged a very busy term. Over 80% of our boys are involved in winter sport.   As well, our victory in the Bishop Lyons Shield, our best ever placing in the Smokefree Stage Challenge, a most successful and professional musical, participation in the Sheila Winn Shakespeare Festival are all events and achievements to be celebrated. We presented the College to 400-500 people on Open Day and enrolments for 2018 are strong.

The largest number of boys received the sacraments late in the term.

I think we should mention the goodwill and generosity of our staff, our senior boys, our parents and old boys who help us run our significant co-curricular programme.

Bereavements put a cloud over our Term 2, and we continue to keep the Entwistle, MacKean and Parder families in our prayers, but also to all those in the Bedean community who have lost loved ones.

Culminating the term was last weekend’s student driven, but staff-supported 24-hour multi-sportathon to raise money for the Good Night, Sleep Tight charity.

To me that’s living out our motto – putting our actions out there and living our faith.  Fide et Opere

Until next term
Justin Boyle
