ST BEDE’S COLLEGE ROLL OF HONOUR

Rachel Pitcaithly —

ANZAC Liturgy 2021 Boys, staff and family members gathered around the quad in silence. The following is what was read at the liturgy

Opening Welcome and Prayer

Ki te ingoa o te Matua, o te Tamaiti o te Wairua Tapu. Ameme.

We gather together today to honour and remember the St Bede’s College Old Boys who lost their lives in WWI and WW2.  We pray also for those Bedeans who returned home from war, whose lives were changed forever. We do so not to glorify war but to remember the young men who walked the same paths that we walk, who studied in the classrooms we study in, who played on the same playing fields that we do, who gathered together as a school to pray – as we do. We honour their memory, their bravery and their sacrifice.

Below is a letter sent to the Old Boys Association In 1945.
