Chrissie Walker —

Do you use Goodreads to find your next read? It’s a great tool for choosing books, getting reading suggestions and seeing what other readers liked and disliked about a book. They have just released their list of the most popular Goodreads Young Adult fiction books of the last five years, which is fascinating! The list has been determined by reader ratings, how many people have selected the book as a ‘want to read’ and how many people have already read the book. There are a great range of genres here, and it makes for a good starting point to choose a book that other readers have enjoyed and been excited about. Some notable inclusions that we have in the school library that are available for borrowing are:

  • The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes – Suzanne Collins
  • Warcross – Marie Lu
  • Thunderhead – Neal Shusterman
  • War Storm – Victoria Aveyard
  • Long Way Down – Jason Reynolds
  • Ace of Spades – Faridah Abike-Iyimide
  • A Reaper at the Gates – Sabaa Tahir
  • Dear Martin – Nic Stone
  • Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe – Benjamin Alire Saenz
  • Concrete Rose – Angie Thomas
  • The Cousins – Karen McManus
  • Truly Devious – Maureen Johnson
