My Future Self

Last year, we ran a pilot programme for the Year 13's called My Future Self. This ran successfully and as such we have decided to continue the programme this year.

As your son’s transition from being a current student to an ‘Old Boy’ of St Bede’s, a significant challenge they face is determining and understanding their choices for the future.

‘My Future Self’ aims to ‘engage and inspire’ our leavers. The first of the My Future Self series is next Thursday, 5 July, beginning with breakfast in the Dining Hall from 7.45am. As with last year, during the ‘Inspire Breakfasts’ there is a panel of Old Boy guest speakers who will be discussing their careers and chosen career pathways. After the breakfast, the ‘My Future Self’ component is being delivered by the team from Zest People.

The first session is:

WORKSHOP 1: UNDERSTANDING THE INFLUENCE OF PERSONALITY ON CAREER CHOICE
DATE: 5th July 2018 (Term 2)

- Introduce value of self-awareness in supporting career related decision making and encourage a proactive approach in determining future options.

- Personality assessment activity using introduction to Myers Briggs Type Indicator
- Discover personal preferences for where you get your energy from, how you take in information; the way you make decisions around that information and how you approach your commitments.
- Connect preferences to the working world highlighting career clusters, work environments and components of work.

The Old Boys Association are very generously supporting this initiative through the funding and resourcing of the breakfasts and workshops delivered by Zest People and we are very grateful for their support.
