An exciting event for Year 10 Māori students

Year 10 Māori learners are invited to the Experience Ara event,Whai Wheako Ki Ara at Ara in October.

Whai Wheako Ki Ara is an opportunity for Māori learners to experience “hands-on” activities at Ara, to demystify tertiary level study and to encourage learners to think about future study pathways. The day will begin with a whakatau (formal cultural welcome) and have a wonderful kaupapa Māori element.

3-day Sport Coaching course in October school holidays

This 3-day coaching course is perfect for students in Years 11-13 who are interested in or currently coaching a sports team. On the course, students will learn the skills needed to effectively coach a sports team and how to plan a training session for maximum results. What better way to recognise students who are already doing the hard work, than with a course that develops their skills as well as gaining the following unit standard credits?

  • 4864 Demonstrate knowledge of recreation needs of target groups (L3 C4)
  • 20673 Demonstrate knowledge of injuries, injury prevention and risks and hazards associated with sport or recreation (L3 C5)
  • 22771 Plan beginner-level coaching sessions for sport participants (L3 C6)

Many of our courses at Ara do not have a specified closing date, so we always encourage students to apply early. For the programmes below, completed applications need to be submitted before the following dates.

Due to the current circumstances, some dates have been extended. If any of your students are having trouble with their application documents please contact your Youth & Community Development Representative or engagement@ara.ac.nz for assistance.
