Mrs Clare Kissick —

Information and updates.

SMALL BORE SHOOTING:

After round 3 of the competition, St Bede's College is sitting in 12th place out of 19 schools.

Nick O’Connor is sitting in 22 place overall and 10th in the C grade. Mac Williams is 35th overall and 14th in C Grade, and William Blunt is improving with each round.

SKIING AND SNOWBOARD CANTERBURY CHAMPS:

Well done to all those boys that skied or snowboarded in the Canterbury Championships on Tuesday. Good to see that the weather played it’s part this year.

The A Team of Ed O’Brien, Louis Wylaars, Luke Higinbottom and Willem Wylaars finished 5th in the boys section with the standout skiers being Ed O’Brien coming in 13th and Louis Wylaars coming 22nd out of a field of 92.

The Snowboard Team of Henry Burrell, Jackson Gavin, Thomas Weston and Andy Dalkie came 3rd in the boys section with Henry finishing 7th overall in a field of 22.

The boys competed well and I was really impressed how they stuck together as a team. After their races they spent the afternoon skiing and riding as one big group all supporting each other. It was great to see that the hard work boys are putting in is paying off. We are now putting our minds to the South Island Champs in Wanaka next month.

Every year we are getting better results and this is thanks to the work Mr McPhail and Mr Bryce are putting in and especially, the Wednesday sessions at Rangiora are paying off. Thanks to both of them for this.

WATER POLO:

Congratulations to Jared Taianoa and Will Jamieson who have been invited to attend a training camp with NZ Water Polo for consideration of selection into the NZ Team for Boys born in 2004. We wish them both the very best for this camp.

BASKETBALL:

Friday night basketball is heading into semi-finals and for some teams, final games this week. Please make sure every team has as adult on the bench and that they boys are playing within the spirit of the game, respecting the team they are playing against at all times. If they do not have the correct uniform or mouth guards, they may not be able to play the semi-finals or finals game. I really appreciated all the help you have given with the teams each week.
