Prayer at the tomb of St Bede
Monsignor Rick Loughnan (St Bede's old boy 1965-1970) was recently in Europe on holiday. While in the UK he stopped in at Durham Cathedral, Durham, and said a prayer for all the staff and students at St Bede’s College at the tomb of St Bede.
Did you know that on the top of his grave is engraved 'Hac sunt in fossa Bedae Venerabilis ossa' which means ‘In this grave are the bones of the Venerable Bede’.
The tomb of the Venerable Bede can be seen in the Galilee Chapel at Durham Cathedral. While it has undergone many changes over the centuries, it remains an important destination for visitors and pilgrims.
If any current or past students have visited the tomb of St Bede at Durham Cathedral we would love to see your photos. Please send them to newsletter@stbedes.school.nz
