From the Rector

Mr Justin Boyle —

Greetings from St Bede’s College.

We move into another mode, and a good many of our junior school parents came into the College for Conferences today.

We consider these face-to-face conversations with the boys in attendance so the same message is heard from all parties, to be very important. The weekly notes monitors boys' progress regularly, the conference confirms and elaborate that conversation about each boy's learning progress. It is also an opportunity to talk about choice of subjects in the following years as they move toward senior school. Often a subject they have begun in Year 9 or 10, reveals skills and talent that help influence decisions about not only subject choices but possible pathways when leaving school.

Your feedback about Conference Days we appreciate.

Next week the Year 10 boys go on camp and the Year 9s are involved in our Big Days Out, and next Friday go to Akaroa as a year group, where they learn some history of the early church in New Zealand, and the part that the Society of Mary played. It is an enjoyable day and I am looking forward to the outing myself.

All are welcome to join us for the Junior Prize-giving which is on Monday 9 December, starting at 11.00am.

Until next week,

J.G. Boyle
