Gerry Davidson —

As we come to the end of a very busy term, it is ironic that rather than slow down it has sped up. A school is a dynamic place and there are a huge variety of things going on at any one time. While we are in Tournament Week it is fitting that we acknowledge our sporting teams who are competing throughout the country (our Rowers in Karapiro, Softballers, Golfers and Water Polo players in Christchurch, Footballers in Wellington and our Athletes in Invercargill). We await their results with anticipation. To begin the week our Touch team finished runners up in the South Island Schools Championships, a day later our Cricketers won their Gillette Cup playoff match and on the same day we welcomed seventeen students who arrived to begin the International Rugby Programme, which has been on hold for the last three years. Throughout the week various sporting codes have also begun the trial process for the coming season.

On Tuesday at the House Assemblies, the boys who had contributed to the Blood Drive were presented with certificates and the Assemblies were addressed by members of the Student Wellbeing Committee about the Fried Chicken Thursday initiative that took place on this Thursday as a fundraiser for wellbeing projects within the school.

Last week the whole school was entertained by our Polyfest performers at a special Assembly and over the next few weeks our Year 9s will begin preparation for the House Haka competition that will culminate in a performance on Feast Day.

On the academic front assessments for various curriculum areas are well underway and those students who have qualified for Top Notes Honours will be rewarded next Wednesday.

Finally, we look forward to Holy Week and will have a liturgy in Period 5 on Holy Thursday with all students to end our term. However, before we get to the end of the term there are still some very busy days to come and we appreciate all the support that you continue to give to the boys and all their endeavours.
