Seniors - Tutorials and NZQA Follow-on courses

Senior Tutorial Days

Monday and Tuesday next week are Senior Tutorial days. Subject teachers will inform students as to when they are available during this time for tutorials leading into exams.

NZQA Follow-on Courses

This year the College will be offering courses to support those at risk of not achieving at either Level 1, 2 or 3.

The timetable below outlines the dates where students will be able to come into school to complete this learning and assessment. The courses will be taught and supervised by Mr McMahon, Mr Bryce or an outside provider.

I need to stress that external exams take precedence over these courses. Students do not have to attend all sessions, however we would ask the students who intend on completing some standards to come in and register on Wednesday 7 November at 9.00am in the College Library. Registration and all course work will be completed in the Library and associated breakout spaces.

Students are able to select from the following courses:

Level One

Year 11 students are able to complete the following standards over the two-week period:

  • Unit Standard 3483 - fill in a form L1 2C
  • Unit Standard 28069 - Demonstrate Understanding of Personal Goal Setting L1 3C
  • Unit Standard 504 - Produce a CV (Curriculum Vitae) L1 2C

Level Two

Additional to the two-day L3 course that Y12 students can opt into, the following standards can be completed over the two-week period:

  • Unit Standard 4252 - Produce a Targeted CV (Curriculum Vitae) L2 2C
  • Unit Standard 4253 - Demonstrate Knowledge of Job Search Skills L2 3C
  • Unit Standard 24871 - Complete Workplace Forms L2 2C

Level Three (28, 29, 30 November at College)

Sports Leadership Course

A three day 15 credit course that will be run by The Learning Place onsite at St Bede’s. This course will run on November 28, 29 and 30. Students must attend all three days. This course is also open to Y12 students. To register interest for this course please contact Mr Hooper.

The course is made up of the following standards:

  • Unit Standard 227711 - Plan a beginning level coaching session for sport participants.
  • Unit Standard 25805 - Demonstrate and apply knowledge of individual and group characteristics and needs for coaching activities in recreation.
  • Unit Standard 22768 - Conduct and review a beginner level coaching session for sports participants.

Staff will be teaching the courses from 9.00am to 2:00pm on the following days:

  • Wednesday 7 November
  • Thursday 8 November
  • Friday 9 November
  • Wednesday 14 November
  • Thursday 15 November – final day for submission.

There are other courses available through the Careers Department run by outside providers. Please contact Mr Hall or Mr Hooper if you are interested in these.
