Mr Mark Ealey —

Nick Ealey (2006) sends Kobe Steel jerseys to Mark Ocwich (2009 IRP) in Uganda

2006 1st XV player Nick Ealey has been in Japan since 2007 - four years at university followed by seven as a professional player with Sanyo/Panasonic and Kobe Steel. Ugandan Mark Ocwich played loosehead prop in the 2009 1st XV, which won 18 of their 19 games, only losing in the final of the National Secondary School Competition. The two have never met.

Since returning to Africa, Mark has been coaching in the Lira District of northern Uganda. Kenya lies to the east and South Sudan to the north.

During his stay, World Rugby (then the IRB) sent a film crew to do a short documentary on him, in which he stated that he wanted to pass on to young Ugandans what he had learned at St Bede's College during his time in the 7th intake of the IRP.  Mark is now doing exactly what he said he would do by putting back into Ugandan rugby. It's marvellous to know that these two young men share a strong desire to assist others through rugby.  The Bedean spirit is clear for all to see.
