Quiz night a season highlight

Peter Curnow —

The last month has seen more football played. Thank heavens the heavens stopped opening - to some degree anyway.

While the U17 Red Team and the U15 Team are vying for top spots in their respective divisions, the highlight of the month for football has been off the field.

We held a quiz night at the Elmwood on Sunday, and it was a great chance for the football community to get together and celebrate football, meet new faces (and a lot of old ones), and raise funds and the profile of football.

The Elmwood was packed, and I know a lot of people missed out on tickets, so we’ll have another one before the start of next season.

Thanks to all those who contributed vouchers, prizes, raffle items, auction lots, and most importantly, their time.

It was a huge success socially as well as financially with a room filled with more than 120 people and nearly $4,500 raised for the club.

The committee were speechless at the result, and it was a relief to all five of us when all 120 people in the room volunteered (albeit unwittingly) to become committee members for next season.

Keep an eye out for the season-ending prizegiving and watch the Facebook page for match reports and other updates on the club.
