Sport Update

Mrs Clare Kissick —

We are eagerly awaiting the Government announcement on Monday 25 May with a hope to return to sports' practices and training next week. Each code will be in touch with their players if this should happen.

I have spent the week preparing guidelines for players, coaches and managers, and will share these with our community as we progress into playing sport again.

At this stage all winter codes look like they will go ahead and get some competition games. We are not sure what format that will take at this stage. The Christchurch City Council have made their playing fields available until the end of September, so some codes could decide to play up until then.

Winter Tournament week is in doubt with some national sporting organisations, cancelling their national tournaments. Regional tournaments may take place in that week. School Sport NZ will make a decision on this in early June.

Meanwhile, the grounds are looking excellent with the rugby posts up this week and the football nets going up next week.

PLEASE NOTE: If practices do go ahead next week the College asks that parents do not attend and the normal drop of and pick up from school will still apply. So please no parents on our grounds, the turf or the gym and please don’t be offended if you are asked to leave.

If you have any questions please email me at sport@stbedes.school.nz
