QEII Drive/Innes Road roundabout night work

We are continuing our work to widen and improve the Innes Road roundabout on QEII Drive.

Night Work
Due to the lane reductions we need to put in place to do our next stage of work, we need to work at night. Night work will start on Sunday 17 November and take about a month, working Sunday night to Thursday night.

Night-time detour
During the night work the eastbound roundabout lane will be closed. QEII Drive eastbound traffic can drive straight through on the slip lane but cannot turn right at the roundabout to go to Innes Road. A diversion will be in place via Marshland Road, Briggs Road and Hills Road.

New Lanes
We have upgraded the eastbound lanes near and on the roundabout and we are ready to move the QEII Drive traffic over to these new lanes. This will happen on or around the 25 November.

Hills Road Updated

Ongoing technical problems with the foam bitumen machinery have caused the chip sealing work on QEII Drive to be rescheduled to next week. This has delayed the re-opening of Hills Road as well.

Hills Road will be open by the beginning of December.

A better way to commute for Waimakariri residents

As part of the CNC project we are building carpool lanes that can be used by drivers with at least one passenger and buses.

Have your say on proposed direct buses from Rangiora and Kaiapoi to central Christchurch and new facilities at park&ride locations.

Chaneys on-ramp to re-open and Main North Road back to two-way traffic

The Chaneys on-ramp will now re-open on Monday 25 November and the left hand turn from Marshland Road will also re-open at this time. My apologies that this date has changed again, this is due to the Foam Bitumen Stabilisation Machine breaking down again. We now have a second machine from the North Island and the final bit of road in this area can be sealed.

On the brighter side, the Stop/Go signals on Main North Road near Chaneys On-ramp will be removed today, ahead of schedule.

The Chaneys on-ramp will close permanently when the CNC project opens in mid-2020.

Cranford Street sealing work update

The Cranford Street repairs and asphalt surface work was able to begin on Tuesday last week. As feared the condition of the road under the old asphalt is poor. We need to discuss with council how they would like us to proceed to ensure the new asphalt layer will be strong enough to last. Ground testing is underway and agreeing the best option will take a few extra days.
