Moore shoots up international rankings

Jayden Moore —

Cooper Moore finished runner-up at the Junior Open Golf Championship in Scotland.

Cooper Moore (Year 11) has been in Scotland playing the Junior Open Championship at Kilmarnock GC, a precursor to the Open Championship being held just down the road at Royal Troon GC.

Each country is invited to send one male and one female golfer 16 years of age and under.

This is the first time Cooper has played on that side of the world and on a traditional links-style golf course.

There were 66 male golfers participating over 54 holes (three rounds) with the top 45 advancing to play the final 18 holes.

Cooper had rounds of 71, 75 and 68 to finish runner up. He is absolutely buzzing with this result, but also very happy with the way he played in the last round. He started the day in 8th place and shot a bogey-free 4 under par 68 to move into second place.

This is a massive result for Cooper from a World Amateur Golf Ranking perspective and will also mean he will receive invites to other major international tournaments.

Cooper then spent the next couple of days watching his idols at the Open Championship before making his way home.
