Information and Updates

Prestons Bridge update

We are still waiting for the road foundations to be dry enough to seal the new bridge and approaches at Prestons Road. We will move one-way traffic onto the bridge by mid next week and traffic should be two-way over the bridge by mid-August.

Winter is not the best time to be doing this sort of work due to the higher rainfall and low temperatures but unfortunately the Covid-19 shutdown has pushed this project into the winter months, leaving us vulnerable to delays.

Our sincere apologies for this ongoing inconvenience of the Prestons Road one-way and detour. Getting the bridge open to two-way traffic is our top priority.

Work at Tram Road

This Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and maybe Wednesday night 8pm to 5am, we will have Stop/Go traffic management set up at the Tram Road/Main North Road intersection so we can install a new stormwater pipe under the road.

Nightly, from Sunday 9 August to Wednesday 12 August we are closing the Tram Road On-ramp from 8pm to 5am and will have Stop/Go traffic management on Tram Road. This is so we can install traffic signal footings at the Tram Road/Tram Road On-ramp intersection and position temporary metal safety barriers along the side of the on-ramp.

This work is dependent on good weather.

Grimseys Road pedestrian/cycle subway closed over night

On Sunday night 2 August from 10pm till 4am the Grimseys Road subway will be closed to all users to allow for asphalting. This work was previously planned in July but had to be rescheduled due to bad weather.

Due to the nature of the work there can be absolutely no access through this subway during this work. Please re-route to avoid this area.

QEII share use ped/cycle path re-opens

On Friday afternoon the QEII Drive shared use path will be re-opened to pedestrians and cyclists.

This path has been detoured for longer than originally expected due to the Covide-19 shutdown so we are delighted to have finished this work and be able to open it again.

The old path was in very poor condition so we hope you really enjoy walking, running or riding on this wider, smoother, new and improved path.

I for one, am very keen to give it a go.
