Tie ceremony wraps up memorable day

Kathryn Eagle —

On the final day of their journey as St Bede's College students, our Year 13s participated in an important event. In the serene surroundings of the Chapel of St Bede, a ceremony took place to present the students with their leavers' ties.

Firstly, they heard from old boy Anthony Corcoran (1981-1985) about what it means to be an old boy of St Bede's and the strength of this community. Not only he, but his Father before him, ICON and old boy Robin Corcoran (1941-1946), have enjoyed their St Bede's connections well beyond school and have remained active members in various roles in the college.

Father Mark Walls was then invited to bless the ties, and the symbolic act, wherein they exchanged their student ties for the distinguished Old Boys' Association tie commenced, symbolising their transformation from student to old boys of the college. This cherished tradition holds great significance for our departing students and continues to flourish, thanks to the generous sponsorship of individual old boys and staff within our community.

The heartfelt moments captured in the photos below truly reflect the depth of this meaningful occasion for the boys.
